Adult Swim's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, Adult Swim welcomed back its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the channel introduced a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often defined by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Network Praise

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and advocated for its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. There’s something surprisingly comfy about following this charming family navigate their daily lives.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to evolve comedy past its current cynical streak. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we must laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially help usher in that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to experience the warm glow of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
